Winter Blues? Look to Nature.

Sometime around the middle of January, winter can start to become a big drag. The holidays are over and it just seems like forever until spring's going to roll around.

Spring. You know, when you get back outdoors again for your favorite fair-weather activities -- gardening, sports, sipping lemonade under a big umbrella, or whatever may tickle your fancy.

But it seems so far away. What to do?

Keep your mind in the present.

Look to nature.

It's so tempting these days to think that we should be able to do about any activity whenever we want. I think it comes from living and working in climate-controlled spaces. We almost forget the season of the year. We lose track of what nature wants us to be doing.

Nature right now is in a time of renewal and planning. The plants are dormant. The soil is resting. Animals are catching up on their rest, as it's just too cold to be outside and active as they will be later on. (Hopefully they've got good food stores to see them through!)

When in doubt, let's live in the moment.

* Take a nap.
* Do the research and planning for your next warm-weather project.
* Read.
* Take up a creative hobby.
* Clean a closet.
* Or work on your taxes!

Spring will be here in its own time. And, by following nature's example, you'll be ready!
