Healthy environment - healthy you. It's often as simple as that. (The idea's simple at least!)
In our last two articles, we spoke first about looking around your life for areas where you can make a difference in what happens. No point wasting energy in an area where you can't make a dent. But if there's a good chance your action or intent can influence the positive result you desire, then you might as well dive in and get hopping.
Then we went on to explore three aspects of plant health that have interesting implications when we look at our own health and well-being: susceptibility of the host, the presence of a pathogen, and the condition of the environment. Today, we'll delve a little deeper into the mysteries of health and environment, for our plant friends as well as ourselves.
Our goal is to identify areas where our positive action or intent can influence the nearly universal desire to be truly healthy and feel good.
As you may have picked up in previous articles, I'm a big fan of asking result-focused questions. In fact, the best way I know of to get fresh answers to the questions that perplex you is to come up with fresh questions that view the situation in a slightly different way. So that's what we're going to do right here.
If I were a person looking to upgrade the status of my health and well-being (in any area of my life), I'd start by asking a few pointed questions. We'll choose three today, based on the disease triangle used in the field of horticulture to create healthier plants - the natural way!
I'm going to try and show you how I think by translating the plant question into a human health paradigm. I'm hoping that from here, you'll be able to pick up the ball and create even more great questions for yourself!
Plant health question #1: How can I influence my plant friends to become less susceptible hosts for disease?
Health & well-being question #1: How can I influence myself to become a less susceptible host for disease, in all its far-reaching forms -- including actual viral or bacterial challenges, injuries, wounds, and the state of shame?
Plant health question #2: How can I minimize my plant friends' exposure to pathogens that might harm them?
Health & well-being question #2: How can I minimize my own exposure to pathogens and other challenges that might harm me?
Plant health question #3: How can I create the healthiest possible environment in which my plant friends can expect to thrive?
Health & well-being question #3: How can I create the healthiest possible environment in which my family and I can expect to thrive?
Ok, you've got some interesting starter questions. How are you going to answer them? Another great question. For most of us, answering life-changing questions like this involves a combination of connecting with our own inner wisdom (a process I call incubating) and collecting expert opinions.
Here are a few places you might start:
- Information on creating yourself as an inhospitable host for disease.
- Information on incubating empowered answers to perplexing questions.
- Information on how your environment influences the way you feel.
- Information on organic gardening practices.
