Healthy Satisfaction: 3 Tips

If you're at all into the weight loss thing (we call it "lightening up" around here), then I know you're interested in making the most of that feeling of satisfaction that let's you know it's time to stop eating.

If you're at all into enjoying your life to the fullest, then I know you're also into recognizing life's most satisfying moments.

If you're into managing stress well, notice this: satisfaction signals your physiology that it's ok to relax!

Satisfaction can be gained legitimately by identifying those things you really thrive on and bringing more of them into your life. Without the benefit of true satisfaction, many people find themselves doing quick fix after quick fix in an attempt to make up for the emptiness and loss they somehow always seem to feel inside.

How well do you know yourself? Have you taken the time to identify what really pleases you?

Check out these 3 tips for a more satisfying life:

  1. Make a list of what's important to you in life (your values). Friends, satisfying work, spending time outdoors ... things like that. Don't expect to do this step all in one sitting. As you go through the next week or two, stop to notice what you're most grateful for, what you most appreciate, and those things that seem to be "missing" from your life. Those feelings are your clues to identifying what you really want.
  2. Focus on what you're grateful for. When something happens that really pleases you, take the extra moment to notice it. Go the extra mile by sharing your appreciation with someone else. To read about the supremely satisfying moment I just had that inspired this article (and to post about your own!) go here: Appreciation and Gratitude Chain
  3. Identify one area of your life where satisfaction is missing. Maybe it's your personal relationships, enjoyment of your work, beauty of your surroundings, or something similar. Start to think about what your life would be like if you could make a significant impact in just that one area. For now, just think about it: what's your life like today, and what could it be like in a few months if you take the steps to create the satisfaction you yearn for.
  4. Editor's Tip: Come September, the Word Cures Wellness Coaching Program can support you in making that desired change!

Ok, are you ready? Go forth and be satisfied! :-)
