Healthy Living Secret Run With the Pack!

You can do it yourself.

You know you can.

But will you?

Or will you start off great, just like you've always done — a testament to will-power and determination. For a week or so. Until temptation comes along, weakening your resolve. Or you get bored. Or you hit an unexpected challenge.

What will you do?

Give up? Make one excuse after the next about why you can't do it, didn't really say you'd do it, or don't mind being out of shape, destitute, and lonely? Will your excuses become so convincing that even you begin to believe them? (A sure sign you're in trouble, by the way.)

Or...

Would you like to try that Healthy Living Project a different way?

Humans are social beings. We do better with encouragement and support. At least most of us do.

How about you? Let's find out. Just take this quiz:

Healthy Living Social Support Quiz

You've resolved to exercise for 45 minutes each morning at 6 am.

Will you be more likely to fulfill your promise:

A. By yourself in your own basement

B. By meeting a friend at the gym

You're committed to eating healthy. You go out for lunch with friends.

Are you more likely to stick to your plan if they order:

A. Burger, fries, and a cola

B. Green salad with grilled chicken

You're committed to eating healthy. You go out for lunch with friends, who all order a burger, fries, and cola.

Will you be more likely to stick to your plan if:

A. Your support network consists of you and you alone

B. You have a team of wellness buddies rooting for your success

You've promised yourself that this is the year you'll make a go of that business you've been dreaming about.

Will you be more likely to end the year with extra funds in the bank if:

A. You plan on doing it your way in the evenings after work

B. You build accountability with a partner or coaching group

Pick "B."

You know you'll do better as part of a team than you will alone. In fact, many things are possible for team players that "Lone Rangers" (sadly) entirely miss out on in life. Truth to tell, most successful people run with a "pack." They swap tips and ideas, enourage one another, and watch the other guy's back. They're smarter than to think they really know it all.

Now I'm going to share a little secret. You know why a lot of wanna-be's get left in the dust?

For one simple reason. They don't have a built-in support team in their life. It's not surprising. We usually pick friends we feel comfortable with. Comfort is not the #1 quality to look for in a success team. So your friends, delightful as they are, don't always cut the mustard as a support team.

And your average wanna-be never looks any further.

What should you look for in a success team?

  • A team whose values match your own.
  • A team who will support you to be your best, no matter what your goal.
  • A team who will encourage you to explore for yourself who you're going to be and what you're going to do, finding the very best expression possible of your personal mission in life.
  • A team you can contribute to!
  • A team you can access readily when you need support and encouragement.
  • And a team who will hold you accountable for what you've put forth as your goal.

Now you certainly could look around your world and hand-select team members. I hope you will! Each and every time you embark on previously uncharted waters, you'll want to find experts to learn from.

But what about your core group? The group that separates the wanna-be's from the people you admire for their commitment, dedication, and success. What if I told you where to find one ready-made? No looking, no interviews, no "maybe, if I feel like it."

Think of the advantage! Rather than wasting the next 6 months trying to find like-minded people to hang out with, you could join an existing "pack" of healthy thinkers and get into your project RIGHT NOW!

The Word Cures Community Healthy Living Group

Well, you can. If you're really committed to transforming your life — through the Healthy Living projects of your choice — then we'd welcome you as a member of our "pack." We begin 3-month projects three times a year — every 4 months.

Each cycle is 4 months long. You get two weeks at the beginning and end of each project to integrate and take a break. You can rotate in at another time if you like, of course. Just align yourself with our active cycles as you can:

  • January 15 - April 14
  • May 15 - August 14
  • September 15 - December 14

Our members choose projects with one simple goal in mind. Improving health and quality of life. Anything that really bugs you in life creates stress and detracts from the quality of life you desire. So nearly any kind of project is fair game! Some of our members' past projects have included:

  • Health and fitness goals
  • Business and financial goals
  • Personal relationship goals
  • Creative self-expression goals

    [And of course the ever-popular...]

  • Cleaning up the house and yard goals!

Joining on is as simple as 1-2-3.

1. The Manual. We follow the project format found in the healthy living manual Saboteur's Guide to A Productive Life: Seven Simple Steps to Freedom. You'll want to get a copy for yourself.

2. The Forum. Each manual comes with 4 months' membership in the Word Cures Wellness Coaching Forum. This is where you'll make the connections we spoke about earlier — from accountability to encouragement to stick-to-it support. As you build on the success of your first project, you'll probably want to stick around for another!

[** If you're a reviewer, you're automatically "grandfathered" in to the Wellness Coaching Forum through April 14, 2007. Just let me know you'd like to participate.]

3. Optional Coaching. Personal wellness coaching is an optional part of the program. If you'd like to have one-on-one support from a real person (Elizabeth Eckert, author of Word Cures: How to Keep Stupid Excuses From Sabotaging Your Health and founder of the Word Cures online community), then this is the way to go.

Ready? Start by picking up your copy of the healthy living manual. We'll take it from there.
